Davenport, IA — Sister Ursula Keough, CHM, 93, died at the Humility of Mary Center, Davenport, IA on February 28, 2016. All services were at the Humility of Mary Center: Visitation was Friday, March 4, with a Rosary and Vigil at 7:00 p.m.; Mass of Christian Burial was Saturday, March 5, 11:00 a.m. Interment followed at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Davenport, IA. Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home assisted Sr. Keough’s family.

Teresa Angeline Keough was born to Catherine Mary Engels and George Henry Keough on October 4, 1922, in Opheim, MT. She entered the Sisters of the Humility of Mary in 1940, professing vows in 1943.

Sister’s education included: Normal certificate from College of Great Falls; BA at Marycrest College, Davenport, IA; CPE certificate, St. Luke Hospital, Milwaukee, WI; graduate work: College of Great Falls, St. Mary’s of California, and Seattle University.

From 1943 to 1973, Sister taught or served as principal in Montana schools: St. Mary, Great Falls; St. Leo, Lewistown; Sacred Heart, Glendive; St. Agnes, Red Lodge; St. Matthew, Sidney and St. Joseph, Great Falls and also St. Mary School, Oskaloosa, IA. Enthused by the Vatican II call for education and involvement of the laity, she dedicated herself to pastoral ministry through religious education and parish leadership in: Libby, Missoula, Plains, Thompson Falls, Dutton, Power and Conrad, Montana. In 2003, S. Ursula joined the Des Moines, IA, New Hope Community, volunteering in the inner city until retiring to Davenport in 2010.

She is survived by nieces and nephews, friends, and the Sisters and Associates of her religious community.

Sister was preceded in death by her parents, brothers George, Joseph, Clarence, Frank, and twins, Mathias and William, who died in infancy, and sisters Carolyn Squires, Thelma Cook, Pauline Goforth, Clara Schnell, Catherine Grindeland and Louise Anno.
