Around the Diocese Billings St Pius X Childrens Ministry Appreciation Certificate 2Children’s Ministry at St. Pius X Parish in Billings has a sweet recognition program for its catechists: “Top Banana.” The parish feels blessed with volunteers that have such a heart for Jesus and sharing that love with the children in their classrooms each week. Throughout the year Jessie Rohrer, Children’s Ministry Coordinator, selects catechists for special recognition. When a catechist is selected, they are entertained with questions like: “What is your favorite room in your house? What has been your favorite Children’s Ministry activity this year?, What book is on your nightstand?” etc.

In April “Top Banana” awardees are Clare Dooley and Ashley Niemi. Ashley is a confident sophomore at Senior High who is always willing to help. She loves being around kids and you can frequently see her at youth group functions or at Vacation Bible School. Clare leads by example with grace and compassion. Beyond Children’s Ministry, Clare can be seen helping at the Thursday morning women’s bible study or at daily Mass serving as a Eucharistic Minister. Her involvement in the community is truly an inspiration!

An e-mail is sent to all catechists with a story of their favorites along with a photo of the recipients. This program allows not only recognition for amazing volunteers, but helps build community among the catechists and families.
