This year’s St. Thomas the Apostle Parish Family Advent Retreat was very special indeed. The evening began with a prayer service in the church, led by our 5th and 6th grade religious education students and a wonderful student choir. The children helped our parish community to connect and reflect on the meaning of this season of waiting for the coming celebration of the incarnation of Jesus Christ. After the prayer service, five rotating mini-workshops were held in the classrooms to give parish families various activities and reflections for use throughout the Advent season, to enrich their entry into the sacred mysteries at Christmas time. It was truly a spiritual and rich evening. Thank you to the parish education commission, the parish family life commission, the students, adult volunteers and staff who made this wonderful evening possible. May this Advent season be filled with peace and hope, offering us the opportunity to pause, wait and watch for the Lord.
