“Welcome Back Weekend” Picnic at St. Pius X Church

St. Pius X Parish in Billings, embracing the national “Welcome Back Sunday” concept, held its third annual “Welcome Back Weekend” festivities September 10 and 11, 2016. The Parish Life Commission decided to host the parish picnic Saturday night (for the first time) rather than Sunday after the last Mass. Father Wayne Pittard, the pastor, encouraged parishioners to wear their NFL team colors. Carl Jackson offered to prepare his family’s famous secret-recipe smoked pork chops, the Knights of Columbus Council 9976 offered to grill hamburgers and hotdogs, Youth Ministry offered to manage a number of fun kids’ games, and the parishioners responded in a resounding “yes!” Thus on the spectacular September night 500+ came to the picnic, and the following Sunday morning 300+ came for fellowship after Masses Sunday for Coffee & Rolls for the standard fair amped up by caramel and cinnamon rolls. Father Wayne thinks Saturday night is the new norm!
