Davenport, Iowa – The Congregation of the Humility of Mary celebrated the Jubilees of seven vowed sisters (one of whom ministered in Montana) and one CHM Associate at a special Mass of Celebration at Christ the King Chapel, St. Ambrose University Campus in Davenport, Iowa, on Sunday, June 26, 2016, at 2:00 pm. Rev. Chuck Adams and Rev. Msgr. Francis Henricksen presided at the liturgy honoring the Jubilarians. A celebration also was held at Bishop Drumm Retirement Center, Our Lady of Peace Chapel, in Johnston, Iowa, on Saturday Sept. 24 at 9:30 a.m.

Sister Ann Therese Collins – 75 years
Sr. Ann Therese Collins was born in 1920 in Des Moines, Iowa. She entered the Congregation of the Humility of Mary in 1942 making her first vows in 1944.

Sr. Ann Therese received an AA in liberal arts from Ottumwa Heights College in Ottumwa, Iowa, a BA from Marycrest College in Davenport, Iowa, and an MA in education from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska.

Sr. Ann Therese’s ministry in education found her teaching at these schools in Iowa: St. Joseph High School in Dunlap, Catholic Central High School in Ottumwa, St. Joseph in Fort Madison, St. Joseph High School in Neola, St. Albert High School in Council Bluffs and Assumption High School in Davenport. She also taught in Montana at Central Catholic (1959-1961) in Great Falls and St. Leo High School in Lewistown (1961-1962). From 1968-1970 she was the first woman in Davenport to hold the position of Diocesan Superintendent of Schools. She served as CHM vice president from 1970-1976 and CHM president from 1976-1984. Sr. Ann Therese was also interim president of Marycrest College. She has volunteered at the Center for Active Seniors, Listen to Me Read, and GED programs in Davenport. She currently lives at Bishop Drumm Retirement Center in Johnston, IA, and is active in a ministry of prayer and witness.
