Father Bob Sewvello died on April 4, 2017. Bob was born on August 13, 1955, to John and Kay Sewvello in Anaconda. He attended St. Paul’s Grade School, Central High School and graduated from Anaconda High School in 1974. After high school, he worked at various jobs before attending college at Portland State University. Then he decided to follow his true calling, the priesthood.

He received a BA in Pastoral Ministry at Marylhurst University and Master of Divinity from Gonzaga University and then was ordained a priest on June 24, 1994. Bob worked as a parish priest in Yakima, WA, before transferring to the Diocese of Great Falls-Billings in 1999. In Montana, he was assigned as Sacramental Minister at Columbus and Absarokee in 2000, then Parochial Vicar at St. Patrick’s Co-cathedral until 2002 and Parochial Administrator at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Plentywood from 2002 to 2006 and St. Raphael Catholic Church in Glasgow from 2006 to 2012. In 2012 he was diagnosed with multiple myeloma and subsequently moved to Billings to be closer to his doctors. While in Billings, he helped with Masses at Mary Queen of Peace from 2012 to 2014.

Throughout his life, Bob was fascinated by anything related to cameras, film and television production. He went to numerous productions of game shows in California and to New York to see the David Letterman show. He loved to travel and took his mother to Ireland, a life-long dream of hers.

Father Bob is proceeded in death by his parents John and Kay Sewvello. He is survived by his brother Jack (Alla) Sewvello and niece Sophie from Sheridan, WY, his sister Ann (Dusty) Skocilich and nieces Kelly and Keri and great nieces and nephew, Zach, Layna, Kaedence and Alyson from Anaconda, MT.

There was a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Billings on Monday, April 10, 2017. Funeral Mass was at Mary Queen of Peace on Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at 11:00 a.m., with burial in Anaconda on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Olivet.
