During the week of June 7-12, 2016, the inaugural GIVEN Forum, an immersion in faith formation, leadership training, and networking for 300 rising women leaders, ages 20-30, was held at the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC. Representing the state of Montana was Nicole Hendershot, a member of St. Anthony Parish in Laurel. She received a full scholarship for this inspirational gathering which explored how authentic Catholic women can bring their gifts to the world.
Every state in the nation was represented, and each applicant submitted a proposed action plan which would put her own unique gifts at the service of the New Evangelization in her own diocese. This immersion experience was hosted by the Council of Major Superiors of Women Religious (CMSWR) and sponsored largely by the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation and the Catholic University of America. Nicole Hendershot’s proposed action plan has already been set in motion! During these summer months prior to her return to school, she has teamed up with fellow-parishioner Marissa Henke to bring ENDOW to their parish. ENDOW is an apostolate which seeks to educate on the nature and dignity of women through small study groups for women. Three women in Denver, Colo. developed this program to expand and explore the teachings of St. John Paul II on women.
The first groups of women have been meeting weekly to study St. John Paul II’s Letter to Women and the teen girls have been discovering their True Beauty.
