Lighting the Faith of Women on Fire

Hoping to help transform the world, one woman at a time, EWTN radio and TV personality Johnnette Benkovic joined forces with Billings Catholic Radio for the fourth annual Sisters in Faith Weekend. The two day event held March 11 & 12 at the Billings Crowne Plaza brought energetic, yet spiritually motivating talks aimed at helping women to recognize their dignity and vocation as daughters of God. When Johnnette Benkovic was told the mission of the weekend was to light the faith of women on fire, she replied joyfully, “Give me the matches!” Her talks not only revolved around the crisis of culture we all face as women but how Satan moves through our lives and the tactics he uses to move us away from our relationship with Christ. The answer, Johnnette stressed, is to keep our eyes on Jesus through it all. In addition to having distinguished guests Most Rev. Bishop Michael Warfel and Vicar General Rev. Jay Peterson of the Great Falls-Billings Diocese, the group of more than 250 women enjoyed the talents of recording artist and motivational speaker Jaime Thietten. Attendee Brenda Pankratz praised the conference saying, “I loved the whole weekend! I loved Johnnette’s enthusiasm, energy, passion and knowledge about our faith. I could listen to her information and wisdom for weeks.” When asked if she felt the conference did indeed light a fire among the women who gathered in faith and fellowship, Pankratz gave an enthusiastic ‘yes’ and added, “Johnnette can bring her matches to Billings every year as far as I am concerned and light us all on fire again and again!” Submitted by Julie Koerber.
