SINSINAWA, Wis.—Sister Joann Feist, OP, died Dec. 6, 2022, at St. Dominic Villa, Hazel Green, Wis. Her religious name was Sister Antonia. Natural burial took place Dec. 8 in the Motherhouse Cemetery, Sinsinawa, Wis. The funeral Mass was held at the motherhouse, Sinsinawa, Dec. 17.

Sister Joann made her first religious profession as a Dominican Sister of Sinsinawa Aug. 5, 1954, and her perpetual profession Aug. 5, 1957. She taught for 46 years at all levels of formal education and in community adult learning centers. Her specialties were teaching science and computer skills. Sister Joann also served as a chaplain for one year and in fund raising for five years. She loved science and found God’s abundant presence everywhere in nature. Sister Joann served in Wisconsin, Illinois, Montana, Nebraska, Alaska, Alabama and the District of Columbia. In the Diocese of Great Falls-Billings, Sister Joann taught at Little Flower, Billings, 1963-1965.

Sister Joann was born July 22, 1934, in Bloomington, Ill., the daughter of Anthony and Genevieve (Huber) Feist. Her parents; three sisters, Hilda Feist, Mary Belmar, and Marie Witte; and three brothers, Anthony Feist, Bernard Feist, and Edward Feist, preceded her in death. She is survived by a sister, Genevieve Feist; a brother, Bill Feist; nieces; nephews; and her Dominican Sisters with whom she shared life for 68 years.
