On Thursday, May 26, Havre Catholic Daughters of the Americas (CDA) Regent Monica Gallegos-Laeupple and Havre CDA Vice Regent Stephanie Bearden placed flowers on graves of the nuns who are buried in Calvary (the Catholic portion of the Hill County Cemetery) in Havre, Montana. There are 15 nuns buried in Calvary, many of them born in the 1800’s. Nuns were an integral part of the early development of Havre, MT, working both at St. Jude Thaddeus Church and School as well as Sacred Heart Hospital. June 1975, Sacred Heart combined with Kennedy Deaconess Hospital under the name of Northern Montana Hospital. The CDA tradition of placing Bob’s Greenhouse (locally grown) geraniums on the graves of these nuns spans many years.
