Rev. Gerald Brunet, OMI, was born in San Fernando, California on October 6, 1930, died in San Antonio on December 19, 2020 at the age of 90 years. Fr. Brunet professed vows as a member of the Congregation of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate on May 31, 1951 and was ordained to the priesthood on May 31, 1954 in San Antonio, Texas.
Fr. Brunet spent most of his Oblate life in hospital ministry in Alaska and in parishes in California before moving to San Antonio. He served in Rygate Montana. Fr. Brunet celebrated his 60th Anniversary of Ordination in 2017. He will be remembered with respect and esteem by his Oblate brothers and all the people who were recipients of his pastoral care.
Due to COVID-19, a Memorial Mass in San Antonio will be scheduled at a later date. His body will be taken to San Fernando, California for burial.
