St. Thomas the Apostle Prayer Shawl Ministry – On December 10, 2017, at the 10:30 a.m. Mass, those participating in the RCIA and RCIA for children were prayed over by the parish community and presented with prayer shawls made through this very special ministry. These beautiful, hand-made treasures are a comfort to those who receive them, a tangible sign of the abiding love of God, and a reminder of the Church’s constant prayers of support. St. Thomas prayer shawls are hand made by parishioners who spend 20-30 hours or more working on each shawl and praying for the recipient. Currently prayer shawls are made in various colors for comfort of the ill/aging, in blue for those journeying through the RCIA, and in dazzling white for children to receive as symbol of the white garment of Baptism. Special thanks are owed to those who have taken on such a time-consuming commitment to demonstrate the Church’s communion through this ministry. If you would like to know more about prayer shawls or this ministry in general for your own parish, contact parishioner Norma Egge at St. Thomas the Apostle in Billings.
