Around the Diocese Billings St Thomas Lenten Retreat 3

The February 22, 2017, ‘Getting ready for Lent’ family retreat night at St. Thomas the Apostle in Billings was beautiful. A penance drama had been planned, and several of our 5th & 6th grade religious education students were ready to perform; however due to an unexpected power outage in the church, this work of love had to be put off for another time. Despite this, we still held a wonderful prayer service in the parish center with workshops in the classrooms thereafter. Thank you to the education commission for preparing a moving prayer service and several workshops for families to discern practicing Prayer, Fasting, and Alms Giving with renewed vigor during the season of Lent. Thank you to Father Steve Zabrocki for the insightful reflection on the spiritual discipline of Lent, and to the many people who baked home-made cookies for the event. Especially thank you to all who attended despite the snow flying. It was truly a blessed time that reminds us all that we are ‘Alive in Christ.’
