Irvin and Jean Weathermon of Laurel, MT are the state winners of the Longest Married Couple Project sponsored by Worldwide Marriage Encounter, the original faith-based marriage enrichment program in this country.

Irvin and Jean, parishioners of St. Pius X in Billings were nominated by Kevin and Beth Walter, also of St. Pius X. The happy couple were married on September 10, 1947, and celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this last fall. The Weathermon’s have two daughters, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. When asked what advice they had for young couples, Irvin spoke up and suggested “Always listen to your wife!” Irvin and Jean enjoy dinners out together, tend their garden in the summers (of which they share their bounty with many), and continue to hold hands as an outward display of their affection for one another. This award was celebrated on World Marriage Weekend (February 10th) with mass and dinner with family and friends. Congratulations Irvin and Jean! Thank you for being an excellent example of the sacrament of marriage to us all!
