Making a Cum Christo may seem like a sacrifice of time for some individuals. When I was asked to make one in 2002, my response was “Sounds too Catholic for me” and refused the opportunity. My sister, who at the time was a co-worker, jumped at the offer.
A year later, my sister asked if I was interested in attending and my immediate response was “Yes”. Having worked with my sister for the previous year, she exhibited something I wanted; however, I couldn’t tell you what it was. I made my Cum Christo at Sidney in 2003.
The miracles I have continued to experience since then are endless and three more occurred today. I called a friend, who has attended a Cum Christo. She indicated she was packed and leaving to help out at the February Cum Christo in Sidney. As the phone call was ending, I got emotional and began to cry. Not sure why the tears, but I was unable to attend having been sick for the last few weeks.
As I dried my tears I opened “Jesus Calling” for February 16, it read – “Thank Me for the conditions that are requiring you to be still. Do not spoil these quiet hours by wishing them away, waiting impatiently to be active again”, the reading goes on with more encouraging words. I was blown away – what a miracle – #1. I needed to hear these words and it wasn’t by accident they were there – it was a definite ‘God thing’! I immediately called another friend to share my miracle.
Three hours later there was a knock at my door, and it was the woman that I was talking to initially. She handed me a dozen long-stemmed red roses – another miracle – #2. God is Good all the time!
I have been stressing over needing to write this article for the last 4 mornings. My February/March issue of the Harvest arrived this same day. I read the article on Cum Christo and was inspired to write one. I grabbed a pen and sheet of paper and wrote this article that I had been stressing over, Miracle #3.
Since Cum Christo my life has been filled with miracles. Miracles I would have not recognized for what they were and from where they came, had I not made the Cum Christo.
Recognizing God working in my life and the lives of others has been just one of the gifts I have received since February of 2003, when I made my Cum Christo.
