St. Pius X parish in Billings, MT bid a sad farewell to longtime parishioners Bob and Carol Bender at receptions following all weekend Masses, March 23 & 24. Bob was a lay minster for the parish for over 19 years. He served in pastoral ministry before taking on the role as Business Manager. Bob worked with the late Fr. Steve Tokarski in the many facets of building the church that had been promised for over 50 years. He also sat on the Development Committee which has successfully built three solid endowments for the parish: the Ministry Endowment, the Cemetery Endowment and the Fr. Steve Tokarski Memorial Scholarship Endowment. Bob’s faithful stewardship kept the vast parish grounds, which include a school, youth center, parish center and cemetery as well as the church in excellent condition and always done with the love of Christ as the center of whatever done. Bob and Carol are retiring and moving to their ancestral home state Iowa to be close to Bob’s mother and their sons and family. His wise and kind expertise to not only the parish but the diocese will be missed. (Pictured L-R Isaac, Emma Jessie & Zac Rohrer with Bob & Carol Bender. Jessie is Children’s Ministry Coordinator and Zac is on the Development Committee at St. Pius X.)
