Captain America… Iron Man…Batman. Have you ever heard someone use superheroes to inspire Catholic teenagers about their faith? With his energy, you would think Kenn deMoll was a superhero, too – but his superpower would definitely be fueled by the Holy Spirit! Only a person in touch with today’s youth can draw the connections that make teens see the similarities between Captain America and the Sacraments. And discover that Iron Man has a lot in common with angels, specifically our Guardian Angel. Batman (Kenn’s favorite) provides the best analogy for the power of prayer. SHAZAM!
We don’t have to look to the movies to know there are also superheroes in our own diocese. They are the people to thank for bringing this brand new Director of Youth Ministry to the Diocese of Great Falls-Billings. Kenn wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for the super-generosity of many parishioners. His ministry is funded for a couple of years by donations from people who want to see youth ministry skyrocket in our diocese! In fact, it was the “extraordinary vision” of one parishioner (our anonymous superhero) who stepped forward and pointed out the void in youth ministry in our diocese and yet “leapt out in faith” by putting their own funds up as a matching challenge to motivate others. Now that is a tool for change!
THIS is what is possible when Catholics come together to make a difference in their Church. It is because of you that we have a dynamic, motivated youth minister in our diocese. What you have started by your faithfulness will grow by leaps and bounds! The greatest thanks donors can receive is seeing the difference their gifts make. Well, stay tuned and look to the future, friends. Your investments will bear great fruit! In the words of Batman, “Sometimes people deserve to have their faith rewarded…”
