It’s probably no surprise to you that most charitable giving in the United States happens in the last three months of the calendar year. One obvious reason for this phenomenon is that it is the time of year that we are reminded to ‘give thanks’ for all of our blessings and also the time of year that Americans are focused on the joy of giving (just ask any retailer)! We Christians celebrate Christ’s birth in the last quarter of the year, and often that celebration includes giving gifts to each other and increasing our focus on helping others in need.

Another reason so much giving takes place in October, November and December is not quite as joy-filled, but certainly practical. That is, to employ legal giving methods and incentives to cut down on the tax bill owed, come the following April.

As you enter into the final quarter of 2015, please include the Catholic Church in your giving plans. You can make a gift to help your own parish or our whole diocese, specifically our youth, our priests, our seminarians, and each other (by giving to support parishes in need). Your gift will further the Kingdom of God within our diocese.

Your gift can easily be structured to provide you excellent tax benefits and even a lifelong, guaranteed income that could very well be an increase over investment returns you are currently receiving. In our diocese, donors are able to give through Charitable Gift Annuities, Charitable Trusts, Life Estates, and many other interesting and creative techniques. You have the free and confidential assistance of the Catholic Foundation of Eastern Montana, always with no obligation to give.
