Born in St. Louis, MO, on September 25, 1922, Lorraine entered the Dominican Congregation of Our Lady of the Rosary in Sparkill on September 1, 1940, and received the name Sister Mary Judith. She professed her first vows in 1942 and her final vows in 1947.

Sister Judith was an elementary and high school teacher. She taught in the Archdiocese of St. Louis at St. Patrick, Rolla, MO; St. Clare, St. Clair, MO; Epiphany, Holy Redeemer, St. Mark High School, Laboure High School, all St. Louis, MO and St. Dominic High School, O’Fallon, MO. She also taught in the Syracuse, NY diocese at St. Paul, Norwich, NY and Holy Family, Fulton, NY. In 1989 Judith made the decision to work among the Native Americans in St. Jude Thaddeus Parish, Havre, MT. She worked here for 17 years before retiring in 2006. Upon her return to St. Louis, she volunteered her time at DePaul Hospital. In 2012 she came to Dominican Convent and became a resident in Siena Hall.

We remember Sister Judith for her great kindness to all and her boundless energy which she used so well in serving the people of God. She was a gentle woman who was faithful to the God she loved and to the life she chose as a Dominican Sister. We are grateful for her seventy-four years in the congregation and we thank God for her life of 92 years. May the Lord give her everlasting peace in the kingdom of heaven.

Sister Judith chose to be cremated with no wake service. We honor her request and cherish her life. A Mass of Christian Burial was Thursday, August 13, 2015. A memorial Mass will be celebrated in St. Louis at a future date. May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen. Wheat Icon
