School Sister of St. Francis Sigfrieda Hettinger, who ministered in education for more than half a century, died January 24, 2016, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Milwaukee. Sister was 87 years old.

The daughter of Frederick and Mathilda Hettinger, she was born April 12, 1928, in North Aurora, Illinois. She was received into the School Sisters of St. Francis June 13, 1947; made her first profession of vows June 21, 1949; and final (perpetual) vows June 21, 1955.

Sister Sigfrieda is survived by cousins, other relatives, friends, and the School Sisters of St. Francis Community, with whom she shared her life for 68 years.

Sister Sigfrieda served as a teacher and in religious education for 53 years in Montana, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Iowa, and Illinois. In the Diocese of Great Falls-Billings, Sister served as a teacher at St. Paul Mission School, Hays (1958-1966).

A wake and Funeral Liturgy were held January 27, 2016, at St. Joseph Convent, Milwaukee. Burial was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Milwaukee. Wheat Icon
