As a little girl, as I was learning my catechism this was intriguing to me. I learned that prayer is lifting our minds and hearts to God. Simple, right? If it’s so simple, why is it so hard to remember and incorporate it into our daily lives?

We are busy people. From morning to night, we are on schedules. We meet distractions at every corner. I have been learning about prayer this year. The kinds of prayer, how we are to pray, spending time with God. I am in an Ignatian Spirituality Program learning how to pray with St. Ignatius. It’s a practice of discipline and I am learning new and exciting ways to pray. The most meaningful of these prayers has been placing me in the Scripture to try and experience what Jesus and the Apostles themselves experienced.

While this is all wonderful, I know this is not for everyone but you know what? At times, I read in my devotionals reminders just to whisper, “Jesus I need you!” “Jesus I love you!” “Jesus, thank you for my life.” “Jesus, help me to desire to want to be near you.” “Jesus, give me strength.” “Jesus, let my heart be like unto thine!”

It’s little vignette’s that keep us aware of Him throughout our day! He loves it when we come to Him! He is waiting!
