By Father Garrett Nelson, Office of Ministry Formation

On September 18, 2016, at the Sunday Mass at St. Patrick Co-Cathedral in Billings, six men of the diocese of Great Falls-Billings were formally accepted by Bishop Michael Warfel as candidates for ordination to the permanent Diaconate.

Mitchell Anderson of St. Matthew Parish in Sidney, Paul Cook of St. Agnes in Red Lodge, Kenn Cramer of St. Paul Mission in Hays, Nate Haney of St. Pius X in Billings, Tony Sandau and Bill Zachmann, both of Sacred Heart in Miles City, publicly declared their intent to prepare to assume the awesome responsibility of Holy Orders through a three year period of formation known as candidacy.

Over the course of the next three years, these men will undergo an intense program of spiritual, intellectual, human, and pastoral formation in order to prepare them to serve as Permanent Deacons in this diocese. Please pray for them and their families as they begin this intense phase, so that they may continue to be open and docile to the promptings of the Holy Spirit, and know the will of God for their lives.

Be Saints, men!
