Marietta Huppert was born March 31, 1927, in Mildred, Mont., to Fredrick W. and Mary Ellen Foy Huppert. She attended grade school in Mildred and high school in Terry, Mont. She entered the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth on Aug. 14, 1946. She professed vows as Sister Jerome on August 15, 1948, and later returned to her baptismal name.

In subsequent years, she worked in medical-surgical nursing, obstetrics, infection control and social services at hospitals in California, Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska and New Mexico. A gifted seamstress, she mended and altered Sisters’ clothing – even up to the time she experienced a serious stroke. Sister returned to the SCL Mother House in 2010. Sister Marietta was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Fredrick T. Huppert and Patrick W. Huppert; and her sister Jeanette Totaro. Survivors include nieces, nephews and cousins, and the SCL Community.
