Please watch your mailbox for your 2016 Care and Share Annual Catholic Appeal mailing from Bishop Michael Warfel. It should arrive near the first week of March and will include a detailed brochure explaining a few of the very important ministries which Care and Share supports. All donations given to Care and Share stay here at home to fund the ministries of our diocese.

This year’s theme for Care and Share is “Make Vast God’s Mercy”. This is in keeping with Pope Francis’ declaration of the Jubilee Year of Mercy, your gifts in support of Care and Share are certainly gifts of mercy.

We are all part of our local parishes, and also part of our larger, Catholic diocese. Giving to Care and Share is your opportunity to provide financial support to your Catholic family beyond parish borders. This annual Appeal is an essential source of funding for our diocese, and your support is genuinely needed and always greatly appreciated.

Bishop Warfel honors the trust you place in us to be excellent stewards of your gifts. Take heart in knowing that 98% of every dollar goes directly to supporting Catholic ministries and diocesan activities. These include training lay leaders of prayer, religious formation, stewardship conferences, caring for the poor and social justice, marriage and family ministry, assuring the presence of a priest in our parishes, caring for the needs of our elderly priests, providing support to parishes in the way of human resources, property management, legal assistance, and more. Your gifts will be used exclusively for purposes such as these.

Please join with all other Catholics in our diocese to do what none of us can do alone. Pray that this appeal truly becomes the instrument of mercy and love that God intends.
