Families from Our Lady of Lourdes Parish sent their children to work and play with parish leader and OLL school alumnus, Molly Wichman, on a virtual trip to the Vatican during Vacation Bible School in July. The children of various grade levels began each day with daily Mass led by Fr. Michael Schneider. Then they spent the rest of the morning exploring ideas of church history and the “Keys of the Kingdom” as they played games, watched video of the Vatican, and discussed Saint Jerome. Our Lady of Lourdes’ alumni Soren Chargois and Molly Wichman helped guide the children, aged 4-10, through activities which included making whipped cream St. Jerome beards and capturing St. Nicholas’s hat. St. Jerome and his lion companion, played by Paxton and Benjamin Zook, made a guest appearance on Friday during camp. Children ended the fun week with a greater appreciation of the roots of their Catholic faith as handed on from Jesus Christ and the benefits of knowing the lives of the Saints. Wheat Icon
