The Pre-Lent Family Retreat on Wednesday, February 3, 2016, was a great delight and a spiritually rich occasion. Gathering for Sloppy Joe’s and pot-luck salads & deserts, children ran and played about in the gym in anticipation of the night’s events. A family craft after dinner encouraged each person to consider their Lenten practices of spiritual renewal. Then all gathered for guidance and prayer in the church, listened to Father Steve Zabrocki’s inspired words of committing to doing the Works of Mercy this Lent, and all prayed together a special children’s Stations of the Cross. Many thanks to all who participated in this great occasion! It is a clear reminder that God has richly blessed us, and that we are a great gift to one another on the spiritual journey. May your Lent be fruitful; may you encounter Christ in the poor of this world; may you find joy in the season’s encouragement of self-denial for the sake of the Kingdom of God. Peace be with you and yours.
