Security for you today – A brighter future for the Church

If you have been experiencing the bumpy ride of the stock market, or trying to make ends meet while living off the interest of CD’s (certificates of deposit) that pay a fraction of what they did years ago, now may be the time for you to consider making a planned gift that will provide you with a stream of payments for life. That’s right: You can make a charitable gift that will pay you for life….or in other words, you can give AND receive!

One basic type of life-income gift is the charitable gift annuity.

With a gift annuity, part of your gift (of either cash or stock or another appreciated asset) qualifies for a charitable tax deduction. If given to benefit a permanent endowment for our Church, it also qualifies for the Montana Endowment Tax Credit (a whopping 40% credit!). In exchange, you get a fixed amount of the original gift as a payment for the rest of your life; the percent is determined by your age at the time the gift is made. And the rates are excellent! (See examples below.) Furthermore, the payments you receive for life are partly tax-free! And if you fund with stock, you can avoid capital gains tax.

Contact the Catholic Foundation of Eastern Montana, the charitable organization which helps Catholics support the Church in the Diocese of Great Falls-Billings, at (800) 332-9998 to learn more. We can, confidentially, help you make the kind of gift that is right for you and the Church.

A charitable gift annuity can be written in the name of one or two people. Note: If you are interested in making the gift today, but deferring the income payments until a little later, then your payout rate will be greater than those provided as examples in the table below. Wheat Icon
