The recent Lutheran-Catholic Convocation held in Lewistown November 27, 2017, provided an opportunity to share on five ecumenical imperatives. There were presenters from both a Lutheran perspective and a Catholic perspective. Coming together for a convocation such as this, in addition to the context of the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation, was a way to follow through with a commitment that had been made in 1999 by then Bishops Milone of Great Falls-Billings, Bishop Morlino of Helena and Lutheran Bishop Mark Ramseth of the ELCA Montana Synod.

The Ecumenical Vespers held at St. Helena Cathedral on Monday, October 30, 2017, was phenomenal. There were around 750 to 800 in attendance. The two Catholic bishops and the two Lutheran bishops spoke at the service on the five ecumenical imperatives stated in the From Conflict to Communion document which is an authoritative document. It may be found on the Vatican website. Photos by John Ramirez, Helena.
