SINSINAWA, Wis.—Sister Carolus Scaife, OP, died May 15, 2015, at St. Dominic Villa. Following a brief service in Queen of the Rosary Chapel, Sinsinawa, Wis., natural burial took place May 18, 2015, in the Motherhouse Cemetery. The memorial Mass was held in the Gathering Place at Sinsinawa May 21, 2015.

Sister Carolus made her first religious profession as a Sinsinawa Dominican Aug. 5, 1950, and her final profession Aug. 5, 1953. She taught for 25 years, ministered at the congregation’s House of Prayer for one year, and served as pastoral minister for 16 years. Sister Carolus served in Illinois, Wisconsin, Washington and Montana.
In the Diocese of Great Falls-Billings, Sister Carolus served as a pastoral minister at Little Flower Parish, Billings, 1976-1983; Immaculate Conception Parish, Fort Benton, 1983-1986; and St. Ann Cathedral Parish, Great Falls, 1986-1992. ​

Sister Carolus was born March 22, 1917, in Milwaukee, the daughter of Joseph and Lydia (Manweiler) Lemberger. Her parents; stepfather, James Scaife; two sisters, Beatrice Rades and Margie Wdowczyk; and two brothers, Joseph Lemberger and George Scaife, preceded her in death. She is survived by nieces, nephews and her Dominican Sisters with whom she shared life for 64 years.
