With election season in full swing and the general election less than four months away (November 3), now is a good time to remind ourselves of the moral imperative to engage in the political process and the importance of us doing so in a manner informed and guided by our Catholic faith. That faith can breathe life into a political arena that all too often appears disconnected from the moral principles that should serve as the foundation for a healthy society.
It’s also a good time to remember that the diocese has issued an updated Diocesan Policy on Advocacy, Lobbying, and Political Action. This document is available from the diocese (www.diocesegfb.org/Policies/Policies-new.html) and the Montana Catholic Conference (montanacc.org).
If you have questions about the policy, please contact Darren Eultgen, Chancellor for the Diocese of Great Falls-Billings (deultgen@diocesegfb.org or 406-727-6683) or Matt Brower, Executive Director of the Montana Catholic Conference (director@montanacc.org or 406-442-5761).
